Remote Access & Connection Issues

To listen away from home, Zuno Music needs to be able to reach your server over the internet. How that works depends on which server you use.

Plex

Plex handles remote access for you. As long as your Plex Media Server has Remote Access enabled (in the Plex server settings) and is signed in to the same Plex account, Zuno Music can reach it from anywhere — no address or port to enter.

If a Plex server won’t connect away from home, check Remote Access in your Plex server settings first.

Jellyfin & Navidrome

Jellyfin and Navidrome don’t provide remote access on their own. To listen away from home you need your server reachable from the internet, usually by:

• Setting up a reverse proxy with an HTTPS domain (recommended), or
• Forwarding the server’s port on your router (less secure).

Once your server has a public address, enter that address when you sign in instead of the local IP.

Common connection problems

“Cannot connect to server.”

• Confirm the server is powered on and running.
• At home: make sure your device is on the same network as the server.
• Check the address and port are correct.
• Try switching between http:// and https://.

It works at home but not away.

• This is a remote-access problem, not a Zuno Music problem. Check the section for your server above.

Some specific addresses are rejected.

• Make sure you’re entering a valid address. You can leave off http:// — Zuno Music adds it — but if your server only accepts secure connections you’ll need https://.

A server on my network isn’t found automatically.

• Automatic discovery depends on your local network allowing it. If your server doesn’t appear, just type its address manually.
